Unlike the stark and often treeless islands of the Aegean, Corfu is covered with luxuriant vegetation all year round thanks to generous rainfallin winter, spring and sometimes during summer at night time. The gentle afternoon sea breeze helps to moderate the climate during the hotter months of July and August. Tropical orchids, wildflowers, eucalyptus and acacias combine with northern European greenery such as oaks and maples.
The Corfiot weather changes with the seasons. Conditions are perfect between Easter and mid-June when the weather is pleasantly warm in most places, but not too hot. Beaches are uncrowded and accommodation is less expensive and easier to find than in the mid-June to end of August high season. Indian Summers are not uncommon and the sea is still warm until November.
